Beautiful’ mum-of-two, 33, killed as her children had sleepover laid to rest

Hundreds of people came out to pay their respects to Terri Harris, who died alongside her children John Paul Bennett, 13, and Lacey Bennett, 11 and their friend Connie Gent, in Killamarsh, near Sheffield, last month

A mum killed as her children had a sleepover has been laid to rest in front of hundreds of mourners.

Terri Harris died alongside her children John Paul Bennett, 13, and Lacey Bennett, 11 and their friend Connie Gent, also 11, last month.

Damien Bendall has been charged over the deaths after the bodies were found at a property in Killamarsh, near Sheffield.

While the 35-year-old mum was laid to rest at a private crematorium service this afternoon, large numbers of people turned up to pay their respects outside.

Barry Pritchard funeral services announced details of the service earlier this week.

In a Facebook post, the funeral director wrote: “Harris Terri, tragically passed away at home in Killamarsh on Sunday 19th September 2021 aged 35 Years.

“A much loved Daughter to Lawrence & Angie, Step Daughter to Ray & Karen. A dearly loved Mum to John & Lacey.

“Terri was dearly loved by her Grandparents and her extended family and friends.

“Funeral service to take place on Thursday 21st October at St Giles Church Killamarsh, 2pm followed by a private cremation at Chesterfield Crematorium.

“Donations if so desired to Cancer Research Uk C/o Barry Pritchard Funeral Service, 55, Bridge Street, Killamarsh, Sheffield S21 1AL tel: 0114 228 0082.

“TerrI’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Killamarsh for all their support and kind messages at this sad time.

“The church service will be for close family and friends but a sound system will be present if anyone would like to listen to the service outside.”

While it is not clear when the funeral of siblings John and Lacey will take place, their dad Jason has urged those who do planned on attending the future service to sing along to Never Enough.

He said he would sing the song, from the film The Greatest Showman, with his ‘beautiful babies’ while driving in his car and it held special memories for him.

“I’m trying to stay strong and while I’m carrying both my babies on my shoulders I’m determined to belt the song they love out loud as if we were in our car,” the grieving dad wrote in a touching post last month.

“Sing along if you like and give me hope and strength and celebrate my beautiful happy babies. My love to everyone.”

Last month Lacey and John Paul’ grandmother, Diane Bennett, recalled the ‘beautiful children as she visited the scene where the community was laying tributes.

She said: “They were beautiful, well-mannered, did anything for anybody.”

Bendall, 31, of 54 Chandos Cresent was arrested at the scene and was later charged with four counts of murder. He’s been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Derby Crown Court in November.
